I had an idea while I was taking a shower.
I was thinking about that ocean seed I posted a few days ago, and possibilities for a survival game based around it.
Your miner is a pirate/seafarer of some sort who’s been marooned on a deserted island with a single tree and some grass. From that point, you have to attempt to survive, and eventually you go off in search of your old crew to exact some good-old-fashioned revenge, posting your findings on a day-to-day basis.
Here’s where I’m divided on how it should go. If you die, I either want to start over with a brand new “character,” with new motives and resources at his/her disposal, and just make it a roleplaying experience, OR send the save file to a friend, so they can play on the same world, and follow the same narrative. Every time they die, they would send it to another friend, and eventually it would wrap back around to me, and just cycle through a set group of people, populating the world with it’s own mythology and allowing it to evolve from a single point in the ocean.
I like both ideas, but I know I’d get bored of the first one after the first few deaths, and it would be hard not to metagame between characters. Maybe the first few could leave signs, or treasure maps? Thoughts?
